The (Ph.D.) in Mathematics is a research-oriented doctoral program that provides advanced knowledge and specialized expertise in pure and applied mathematics. The program is designed for students who wish to contribute to the field through original research, critical analysis, and innovative problem-solving.

During the course, scholars engage in independent research under faculty guidance, exploring areas such as algebra, analysis, topology, number theory, differential equations, mathematical modeling, computational mathematics, statistics, and applications of mathematics in science, technology, and industry.

The program also emphasizes academic writing, publication, and presentation skills, preparing graduates for careers in research, academia, and industry.

Eligibility

Candidates must have completed an M.Sc. in a relevant stream from a university recognized by the UGC with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (or 45% for candidates belonging to reserved categories) to be eligible for admission. UGC-NET qualified candidates will be admitted through an interview, while non-UGC-NET candidates must appear for an entrance examination followed by an interview as part of the selection process.
